114 – Ganeshotsav 2009 Special – Chinmaya Ganadhish

Chinmaya ganadhish is the world’s tallest Ganesh statue. Situated on the Pune-Bangalore Highway and 13 kilometers from Kolhapur, it is 61 feet tall based on a 24 feet raised platform. The Lord is in sitting position on a five-face snake and is pink in colour.

Its a huge statue. The moment you stand below it, you realize that. The site is a little isolated and if you don’t look carefully from the highway, you just might miss it.

On the right snake-head, you can see some black spots, these are big bee-hives.
