Sinterklaas or Sint Nicolaas or De Goedheiligman in Dutch is the inspiration for Santa Claus. Saint Nicolas Eve or Sinterklaas day is celebrated in Netherlands on 5th December. Like Santa Claus, Sinterklaas eve or Sinterklaasavond (pronounced as Sinterklaas Afond) is a gift giving day and a major festival and holiday in Netherlands.
Children keep shoes near the fire place or central heating in the house like stockings are kept for Santa Claus. Saint Nicolaas brings gift for children. Humorous Poems are written for people and pasted in offices.
These were the poems written by my office colleagues. The office wore a festive look that day
