The street side book vendors near CST and Churchgate sold everything from classics to college syllabus at low prices. Most of them were shut down long back few years ago  but some remain and they continue to make books affordable for people who are repelled by big cost. They even offered buy-back schemes where you could sell them books back at lower rate.
