The Volkswagen Type 1 popularly known as the Beetle was the longest running car from a single design. The small compact car has much evolved from its debut in 1938 but the basic shape and design which resembles the insect beetle remains the same.

In Nainital, parked in a government owned parking lot was this old Beetle. Standing separated from all other vehicles, it had that unusual charm about it. Two security guards at the gate of the parking lot looked at me as I pulled up my camera to click.

I clicked quickly thinking they might object but one of them said.

“Andar jaakar dekho! Wahaan se Sukhataal dikhata hai! Aur gaadi bechne ke liye nahi hai” (Go inside! You can see Sukhataal (a lake in Nainital). And the car is not for sale)

I didn’t want to buy it either! Just wanted to Drool!

That’s all!
