A statue near Leidsplien, Amsterdam where people can play chess on chess board made in the ground. The Statue is of Max Euwe by sculptor Jose Finhaut

Only once has an amateur ever become world chess champion. Dutch maths teacher Max Euwe held the title from 1935-37.
